The Carrot - Chapter One

In the first chapter we have found out that Felix is an orphan but his parents are still alive, Dodie is Felix's friend who's parents died of sickness when he was three and he wants to be a pig slaughterer. Felix is determined that the carrot he got is a message from his Mum and Dad because it's favourite vegetable. He and his parents are Jewish and his parents own a book store and can't afford him, don't want him or they have died. He has been in the orphanage for three years and eight months and wants to say thankyou to Dodie.

We worked as a team and decided what would be in the house that Felix found. Hi it's Kate and Rebecca the first thing weve done this morning is put postit notes ont the chairs and tables to make an 1940-1941 house for the otherteam to raid, then we had to pick things out of the other house to use. My note to the people who lived their was:
Dear people who live here,
I'm sorry for taking your major supplies, I am a nine year old who doesn't have anything plus I need to find ny Mum and Dad! I hope you can understand.

Liza Hempstock - was she a witch?

Was she a witch or not? What were her crimes? She was buried in unconsecrated ground in Potter's field, what does she now want? Have you read Chapter 4?

Hi! Its Charlotte and Courtney we think that Liza Hempstock is really a witch. Her crimes were making the milk go sour and the horses go lame. We did some drama on the book where we did freeze frames and when we got tapped we needed to say what we were thinking at the time. We said "She killed my husband , now its time to get revenge." She is in Unconsecrated ground in Potters field which means she has no gravestone and she really wants one.

It's  Raj and I definitely think liza is not a witch, because when they took her to the pond she drown, but if she was a witch liza would not have felt any thing.All of the village was waiting out side her house ready to take her to the pond would you like to go you the pond? 

  

Our writing today was a challenge - we could only use 100 words and some people could only use 100 words and not use the letter 'O'...we had to work really hard! Below are a couple of examples of our work.

The Graveyard Book

This is the project that we are currently working on. Who is Jack? Does the baby escape?

We joined 7N in PA to create our graveyard.....

We did some Geography work and created birds eye view maps, adding keys.

We read the first chapter of the booka nd are starting to ask questions

We are all in role and writing as a reporter, police, witness, Jack, family or baby.

I think that the lesson on monday was quite good because we got to work with different people.I think jack is a mean man i think that he is the kind of person that goes round killing people and getting in trouble.I dont know why he killed the three peole maybe because he wants to look hard infront of people and show of or maybe just because he is so mean and does things like that.I think the book is going to be very interesting,he may murder more people and get caught. It  may be  a little scary. Amie R
